What are traits?
Traits are all the different kinds of features a wyngro can have! They include things like ears, tails, wings and horns! Different traits are found on different kinds of wyngrew. This is based mostly on heritage/bloodline or location. Over 80% of wyngrew found within the world are mixed (sometimes categorized as a "standard"), meaning they're derived from various "sub-species" found around the world of Ennth. These sub-species include the Flossy, Quill, Finn, Gorge, Pixie & Imp. Every mixed wyngro has a bloodline that comes from one or several of these subspecies, which is why they can have so many variations!
Each trait will list whether it comes from a certain subspecies, or if the origin is unknown.
Each trait is grouped under the following [FOUND] categories:
-
Universal: This means the trait is found universally, all across the world, with all sub-species included.
-
Universal Mixed: This means the trait is found universally with all mixed wyngrew.
-
Heritage Based: This means the trait only runs in certain families, and it usually pasted down by bloodline.
-
Magic Based: This means the trait popped up due to tampering with magic, curses, etc. These are not considered normal.
-
Locational Based: This means the trait is usually only found in certain locations.
-
Wynsiph: Trait is commonly found native to Wynsiph residents.
-
Last Notch: Trait is commonly found native to Last Notch residents.
-
Cress Port: Trait is commonly found native to Cress Port residents.
-
Antova City: Trait is commonly found native to Antova City residents.

Universal Traits
The following upgrades are most commonly found on mixed wyngrew, which is the most popular type found across Ennth.
Hair Tuft
Always stylish, always protag.
Found: Universal
Subspecies Base: Unknown
Description: Known simply as a 'Hair Tuft', this signifies a wyngro has hair or a large tuft of fur growing from the top of its head. A Hair Tuft must be the same color as the top of the wyngro's head. If the tip of a Hair Tuft begins to change color, this usually means the Hair Tuft is slowly beginning to transition into "Elegant Hair", which usually happens during puberty.
Cheek Fluff
Hairy Baby! Hairy baaabyy.
Found: Universal Mixed
Subspecies Base: Flossy
Description: Cheek Fluff is obviously the trait of having fur in the cheek area! In many mixed wyngrew, easy identifiable fur lengths often are only visible on the cheeks, which is why the trait became an isolated category all on its own!
Paw Pads
Time for toe beans!
Found: Universal Mixed
Subspecies Base: Unknown
Description: Mammalian-styled paw pads seem to be so ingrained in the DNA of all living wyngrew, that even many subspecies of this generation have them (Although quills & gorges are built predominantly with claws, so it it very scarcely seen on either). Paw pads generally are seen in a rounded shape such as portrayed above, but there have been sightings of the shape being mutated...
Black Pupils
All the better to see you with!
Found: Universal
Subspecies Base: Unknown
Description: Black pupils are standard for any wyngro species that lives above the water. It is very rare to spot a mixed wyngro with anything but standard black pupils, but every once and a while some Finn DNA will cause a mutation.
Horn Stubs
Stubby Bubby ♥
Found: Universal
Subspecies Base: Flossy
Description: Although many subspecies adorn horns, the flossy species is where they seem to originate from (specifically horns that protrude from the top of the head). This seems to be a very dominate gene passed down from eons ago, as even varieties of other, very pureblood species of wyngrew have horns in this area.
Baby Teeth
All I want for mah birfday is mah two front teef!
Found: Universal
Subspecies Base: Unknown
Description: The first signs of baby teeth to come in on most species of wyngrew are short and pointy like above! Teeth than take their final shape after puberty and the baby teeth have fallen out. This depends on genetics and where the wyngro lives, as some wyngrew are simply better suited to eat different kinds of food.
Imp Traits
The following upgrades are most commonly found on imp wyngrew, which are the rarest type of subspecies, as they almost went extinct at one point. Because imperial wyngrew scarcely bred with other subspecies throughout history, not many of the following traits are commonly seen outside of Antova City.
Imp Mane
Maybe they're born with it, maybe it's imperial genes.
Found: Universal
Subspecies Base: Imp
Description: The distinct feature of a hair line going down the back of the neck to the tip of the tail is a very old trait that originates from the imps! This is the most commonly passed down gene for imp lineage, although it does sometimes happen with no imp lineage as well, so having a mane like this does not always signify imp heritage.
Imp Armor
Dew Claws
I love your imp cosplay!
Found: Universal
Subspecies Base: Imp
Description: A staple of the purebred imp is their armor coating their limbs, which is usually most commonly found on the outside of their front forearms. When passed onto mixed children, this has a tendency to appear on the back as well! Although armor-like scales is a big trait of gorges, imps & gorges do tend to have very distinct differenced in the armor.
Can your wyngro do the dew?
Found: Universal
Subspecies Base: Imp
Description: A trait that every imp seems to be born with are the dew claws on their back feet. It is unknown why they have this feature, although some old scholars prophesized it had something to do with their magic. Since then it has been a sign of direct lineage with imps (as it is a recessive gene). They can easily get caught on things and rip off, so practical families have them removed, although many wyngrew consider that wrong.
Gorge Traits
The following upgrades are most commonly found on gorge wyngrew, which are the largest type of subspecies, residing in hotter climates. They are known for their spiky features and eyebrow horns!
Giggle Brow
:D
Found: Heritage Based
Subspecies Base: Gorge
Description: Every pureblood gorge is born with this distinct eyebrow horn, as this is a staple with the species. Known as a "Giggle Horn" while a wyngling, it will later grow and develop into other shapes later in life. Sometimes, it never grown in length, and is then known as the "Cheeky Brow" once the wyngro is an adult.
Smile Brow
:)
Found: Heritage Based
Subspecies Base: Gorge
Description: A common variety of gorge eyebrow horn that has an upward curvature! This style can often morph into the Grimace or Shout Brow, as well as many other varieties. It is the most common gorge eyebrow morph, covering around 60% of gorge population at any given time.
Frown Brow
:(
Found: Heritage Based
Subspecies Base: Gorge
Description: A somewhat common variety of gorge eyebrow horn that has a downward curvature! This style can often morph into types of horns that wrap around the curvature of the face, which is highly desired for fighters. For non-fighters however, many gorges have them filed down to prevent discomfort.
Stoic Brow
:|
Found: Heritage Based
Subspecies Base: Gorge
Description: A common variety of gorge eyebrow horn that has a straight curve to it. This style can often morph into different varieties that stick out past the back of the head.
Grimace Brow
o_o
Found: Heritage Based
Subspecies Base: Gorge
Description: A somewhat common variety of gorge eyebrow horn that has a zigzag shape! Some forms of the Grimace Horn can grow far past the head, making it heavy and unbalanced. In this case, gorges usually file them down.
Shout Brow
:O
Found: Heritage Based
Subspecies Base: Gorge
Description: A somewhat common variety of gorge eyebrow horn that sticks straight up! This style can often morph into other varieties, such as antler-like styles.
Earth Spikes
Hard spikes to make sure your friends get the point!
Found: Universal Mixed
Subspecies Base: Gorge
Description: This feature consists of spikes covering portions of a wyngro's body, included are the shoulders, knuckles, toes and rump. This trait is very ingrained in current wyngro society and is believed to be a sign that the wyngro has very old gorge ancestry somewhere down the line.
Crown Brow
Truly kingly eyebrows.
Found: Universal Mixed
Subspecies Base: Gorge
Description: Another indication of gorge blood ancestor, the crown brow tends to be spikier in cases where the lineage is more directly influenced. Not quite as ingrained as the Earth Spikes, but it's still a fun indication of gorge blood!
Carnage Horns
Legend has it, these horns come from a long line of vicious carnivores!
Found: Universal Mixed
Subspecies Base: Gorge
Description: Carnage Horns are a direct result of Gorge/Mixed wyngrew breeding after a few generations, which is when the smoother, shorter version starts to appear. This may also be why it's common for the area around the eye and the horn blend together so well, making it appear more as an eyebrow horn. If the wyngro has this coloration, it probably has a rich history of gorge family members!
Flossy Traits
The following traits are most commonly found on the flossy species, or heavily past down through generations, as flossies are one of the oldest recorded species of wyngro ever documented.
Body Fluff
You're a true FOOF!
Found: Universal Mixed
Subspecies Base: Flossy
Description: One of the oldest traits past down from the flossies, a fluffy body can appear even on the most unlikely of species (even the gorge sometimes!).
Crown Brow
When in doubt, pinky out!
Found: Universal Mixed
Subspecies Base: Flossy
Description:
Retractable Claws
AKA: Danger toe beans
Found: Universal Mixed
Subspecies Base: Flossy
Description: It is highly theorized that retractable claws originate from flossies, but no one knows for sure. Certain clans of flossies in the northern region of Orko are said to adorn these unique claws.
Imp Traits
The following upgrades are most commonly found on imp wyngrew, which are the rarest type of subspecies, as they almost went extinct at one point. Because imperial wyngrew scarcely bred with other subspecies throughout history, not many of the following traits are commonly seen outside of Antova City.
